I suppose I am not very good at keeping up with this kind of blog. I am both an artist and deaf/hard-of-hearing so I tend to be a very visual person. If you don't find anything you like on this blog check out my tumblr blog at obsessivecreativity.tumblr.com
When I don't have much time for creating I sometimes sneak in small snippets of the day to sew or draw or anything creative. Birds are one of my favorite themes. I just added these to my etsy store. I sometimes cut these freehand as I go but I did finally break down and draw out the pattern for one of them so I can cut more than one at a time. I am working on some new bird patterns. I will share those when I finish.

After a grueling week of classes and boring "business" work I am in dire need of some sewing therapy. So I find myself completely unable to even look at the stack of paperwork that needs to be done and I have decided, already, to skip ASL class tonight.
What's left to do but head to the sewing room?
I started by making a little scrappy bird. That usually gets me warmed up for more sewing and today is no exception. And finally I have time to go through all the remnants, scraps and crafty findings from this past week. I managed to add quite a bit to my stash! I love to shop at thrift stores and secondhand shops for scraps and items suitable to upcycle.
I found quite a bit of fabric.
Now I am off to sew some more. Peace and happiness.

Now I just need to sort through it all and cut for quilts and other scrappy crafts. :)
I have managed to complete a chair cushion today. I love this fabric. It is even nicer than it looks in the photo. What makes it even better is I found enough of it to make 7 chair cushions. I have six chairs so I will have an extra. And it only cost me $3!

Recipe - Whole Wheat Coffee Cake Muffins
Whole Wheat Coffee Cake Muffins
Welcome to my new blog. Here I plan to just simply talk about my simple country life and share a few of my trials and errors. If you enjoy cooking and baking, vegetarian recipes (I'm a pescetarian - no comments about that please), organic gardening, crafts and pets you might find something of interest here.
Today I am going to start by sharing a recipe I just tried for breakfast for whole wheat coffee cake muffins (link below). I found this recipe on another blog. These muffins tasted great, but I have a few suggestions.
First of all, the recipe says it makes 12 muffins but mine overflowed and made a mess in my oven. This could quite possibly be because I was out of yogurt so I substituted buttermilk instead. Still, I recommend you put less in the muffin cups than the recipe calls for. Here is what mine turned out looking like.
Yes, I know, I'm not a great photographer. lol But you get the idea.
Also, I don't like my muffins quite that sweet so I think next time I will cut back on how much sugar the recipe calls for. Overall though I would have to give this recipe 4 stars. It was easy and quite yummy! If you try it, let me know how it turns out.
